loving living

I know it has been forever, so here goes. I'm not going to try to catch you guys up on my life, because if you want to know you can just ask, ha. But, I do want to talk about some things.

Last night my dear friend from UMHB Skype called me. This was my first Skype video call and it literally was just the best dern thing ever. We talked for 40 minutes and let's face it, I needed it. To be honest when I moved I felt so distant and unwanted from my friends there that it broke my heart. But then she just randomly popped up. It was as if we had never stopped talking. I confessed all the silly mistakes I’ve made since I moved here and like always she challenged me to start reading my bible more and pray more. Honestly, I have really been in the driest zone spiritually for a long time and it has just stunk like cow poopy. But then my dear Kait challenged me to start praying for her family (let’s face it I would do anything for my friends) and that started re-opening doors and bam. Here I am yearning again. Fast forward an hour in the evening and my bestie best twinkie called me. We got on the topic of God and talked about how we both really needed to get our lives back on track.

Then today I had decided to start reading my bible again a bit more, even if it’s just a verse a day. She had been awake a few hours and she texted me to tell me that she was getting her life back on track. She was going to give up the bads and start embracing the goods. I almost started crying I was so proud.

So now we are gonna read the bible together to try to grow more. First on the agenda is Colossians then we will fast forward to the Gospels. After that who knows where God will lead us. But it is so great to know where my life is… to wake up and remember that I have passion for God and that he does things in my life I cannot place aside or ignore.

Here’s to living life and loving it more.

Random

I've realized that I won't really keep up with this enough. So I've decided to take the random route of blogging. From here out, I may post about my life, or I may post about the grape soda I'm drinking. It's whatever goes down.
I'll admit, I stole the hyperlink idea from kayla.

I had a craving for carbonation today, so I ran to walgreens and grabbed a grape soda. It was unsatisfying, since I wanted Dr. Pepper.
I like receiving mail, more than I like sending it. I tend to spend hours working on one letter or card.
Butterflies and hydrangeas are ugly. I plan on potting sunflowers this week.

Thursdays are my night of honor

By that statement I mean that on Thursdays I get the den to myself to watch The Deep End, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice. I also get to do pretty much whatever I want that night with no interruptions, so I made some cards. Three to be exact... It's such a nice way to just get things out- you focus on the composition of the card more than the crap occurring in your life... next thing you know you have a beautifully crafted card waiting to be mailed to some lucky person.
I'm into this craft until I'm happy mood, because goodness knows there is no reason to be sad. So at the library I grabbed some quilting books and stopped in to check on the local quilting groups. I figured maybe sitting in a huge basement talking to tons of old ladies, sipping tea, and learning to sew quilts would be just up my healthy ally. So I borrowed "More Weekend Quilts" and "Free Stuff for Quilters on the Internet"... of course this passion was spurred on by the fantastic reading of "The Quiltmaker's Gift" by Jeff Brumbeau, which I suggest everyone should read.
That's really all I have to say today... but I will leave you with this beautiful song:
Her daddy gave her, her first pony
Then taught her to ride
She climbed high in that saddle
Fell I don't know how many times
Taught her a lesson that she learned
Maybe a little too well

Cowgirls don't cry
Ride, baby, ride
lessons of life are going to show you in time
soon enough your gonna know why
it's gonna hurt every now and then
if you fall get back on again
Cowgirls don't cry

She grew up
She got married
Never was quite right
She wanted a house, a home and babies
He started coming home late at night
She didn't let him see it break her heart
She didn't let him see her fall apart

'cause Cowgirls don't cry
Ride, baby, ride
lessons of life are goinna' show you in time
soon enough your gonna know why
it's gonna hurt every now and then
if you fall get back on again
Cowgirls don't cry

Phone rang early one morning
Her momma's voice, she'd been crying
Said it's your daddy, you need to come home
This is it, I think he's dying
She laid the phone down by his head
The last words that he said

Cowgirl don't cry
Ride, baby, ride
Lessons of life show us all in time
Too soon God lets you know why
If you fall get right back on
Good Lord calls everybody home
Cowgirl don't cry

SNOW

It is poring snow here, and it is absolutely beautiful. I love snow because, like lorelei gilmore, I believe it brings miracles. If anything it just cheers me up, on my worst days. As it poured snow I ventured out to town for some errands. I mailed a package to my wonderful friend, stopped by the library to rent some movies, went to tractor supply and ran to a hot country boy, and then grabbed some essentials from save-a-lot. I just love snow, call me crazy, but it is just so perfect. I feel like when it snows and there's good music on, nothing can top it. It's like a little present from God, and I try to enjoy it thoroughly.
Well, now I'm going to head in and finish cleaning my room and then watch HP.

What's your favorite type of weather?

So, I will just say that these past few weeks have been crazy.
I however, have landed an interview at a local nursing home and I am super psyched about it. It's for a payroll specialist and it just sounds awesome. I mean, it isn't a bakery, but it's got potential.
Not much is going on except for the unpacking, organizing, reading, and movie watching I've been up to. The FCL has helped me in my goal for my mom to watch all the harry potter movies- we are currently on the chamber of secrets, and she loves them- score!
The dogs have settled in here, for the most part, and my bruises are finally starting to heal after the move. Poor GJ has a severe sprain on her right ankle and she is not one for resting, so I'm praying she heals fast. The babies love going for walks every day, and they finally understand the routine of go potty, watch gilmore girls, and fall asleep with mommy. They however, have not grasped the "don't wake mommy before eight thirty" rule.
Thant's pretty much all that's going on here. Lizzie and Luc say hi.

Well, the move has been good.
My grandmother makes fantastic lunches (especially her coleslaw). They go to their bedroom around 6:30, so I pretty much have the house to myself for primetime. I have an extremely comfy bed and Charlie made a new friend, Oscar. He lived in my room before I arrived and he is a very soft and sweet lamb.
I still haven't found a job, yet, but I have been looking, and I really really want to get a position in the daycares and bakeries I applied to. Hopefully, this snow storm will pass and I can head out tomorrow for more resumes and applications.
We traditionally watch Dr. Oz every afternoon. And it is fun to take Abby and JoJo out for a walk and watch them race back to the house.
I haven't quite gotten to the point where I feel comfortable enough to bake yet, but we'll see how long I will hold out.

A New Life

Yesterday, I moved in with my wonderful grandparents in Tennessee.

The trip:
My brother and I packed up the car and pulled out of the driveway at five yesterday morning. I attempted to sleep, but woke up in Dallas. As none of you know, one of my favorite places in Texas is driving across the bridge over the Corder Lake in Rockwall., and at the time we drove across it the sun was rising. It was such a beautiful sight to see before I left the great state. We didn't stop until Jackson, Tennessee. So needless to say I was most indefinitely stir crazy. Luckily, I had the great read of "Julie&Julia" which is great, but a little sketchy at parts. We had fun driving and rocking out to great tunes like "funkytown", "big poppa", and "i can transform ya". I got a free lunchbag at Subway so I can take my lunchie to work. Then we drove over the gorgeous Missippi River Memphis bridge and entered the "Music Highway" straight for Nashville, where I watched the sunset. Then, I left my brother at the hotel and headed south for my grandparents house.

The Arrival:
A good fifteen minutes from home I changed from some Justin Bieber to Justin Moore's "Smalltown USA". As I got closer and closer to home the wave of the emotion of home hit me and I felt so safe, relaxed, and excited. I was greeted by a gorgeous home that I already knew my way around since my grandmother and I are kindred spirits. Oh, and for dinner I had homemade veggie soup. Then, I watched a One Tree Hill/Gilmore Girls marathon, and fell asleep.

The Day:
I woke up to a cup of hot cocoa followed by waffles and eggs. After freshening up, Pa Les and I headed out in the Ranger for some job hunting. However, we had no luck as of yet. We just finished lunch and I'm finishing some online applications before I watch some movies.

The bad news:
The stars here are not big and bright.

The good news:
I live in smalltown USA!

So, tell me something new in your life!
